If you are on a budget but still want to get a good-quality motherboard for a gaming or workstation setting, the MSI Gaming Pro Motherboard should be top of your list.
This motherboard comes with a host of impressive features, but one that stood out for me is that it is compatible with various processors, including Intel’s twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth generation processors, Intel Pentium Gold, and Celeron.
This motherboard is based on Intel’s Z-Seven hundred and ninety Express chipset, which enables memory overclocking so that you can get more from your processors. It uses a DDR-Five memory version and comes with up to four DDR-five memory slots.
The build quality is also very impressive. While it is a budget-friendly motherboard, its construction is way better than you’ll find on most motherboards in its class. The PCB is sturdy and well-built; it is nice and flat, and the motherboard’s heat sinks are very well-made and secured.
According to the manufacturer, they built this board using what they call advanced surface mounting technology. They claim this reduces the defect rate of the board’s solder joints. I have not used this board for long to prove this, but from my research, I did not see any negative comments on solder joints.
MSI also claims that the motherboard comes with memory boost technology that delivers high-frequency DDR-five signals. While this may just be standard marketing speak, we know that MSI has previously held world records for memory overclocking.
In general, the MSI Pro is a good-quality motherboard that performs very well. The only drawback I noticed worth mentioning here is that the rear input-output panel lacks a built-in shield, but this isn’t uncommon for budget-friendly motherboards.
NZXT N-7 ATX Gaming Motherboard
This motherboard has it all; from stunning craftsmanship and design to performance, it gives you the full package.
However, to be fair, the biggest selling point of this motherboard, as with other NZXT products, has to be aesthetics. I was immediately impressed by its design when I unboxed it. It is designed to look clean, sleek, stylish and modern.
It has a full metal cover that easily blends aesthetically with the white or black cases. The overall design allows for a great look without sacrificing the build experience with an integrated rear input-output panel and optimally placed headers.
The motherboard is compatible with Intel’s twelfth and thirteenth-generation Core i Nine, Seven, and Five processors. It is also designed with Intel’s Z-Seven hundred and ninety Express chipset, enabling memory overclocking.
It is also equipped with Wi-Fi Six-E wireless connectivity, which supports six gigahertz frequencies, and has lower latency and faster wireless speeds. This machine also uses a DDR-five RAM version and comes with four memory slots.
Other features I liked include digital RGB lighting and fan controller, eight-channel HD audio support, and the rear input-output panel shield. I couldn’t find any drawbacks worth mentioning apart from the fact that it is a bit more expensive than most boards in its class.
ASUS ROG Strix Gaming WiFi II
The ROG Strix is a powerful and well-connected mid-range motherboard that not only brings on board Intel Fourteenth Generation Support but also offers users the latest wireless networking, top-quality audio, and lots of storage slots.
This motherboard comes with a DIY-friendly design and a black and silver styling. It features a black multi-layered PCB with silver heatsinks and shrouds that cover the hot spots. It supports Intel’s twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth-generation processors, including the flagship core i-Nine.
ASUS lists this motherboard’s memory support up to DDR-Five, Eight thousand, which is designed for ultra-high performance on the DDR-five platform. I tested the motherboard with my DDR-Five, six thousand and seven thousand two hundred kits, and both worked without a glitch, which tells you this product is as good as advertised.
What I liked most, though, is the use of a Generation Five Graphics card slot. Now, these graphics cards are not out yet, but this motherboard is set for the next generation of GPUs. So if you are the kind of person who is always looking for the latest upgrade paths for your machines, you might want to pick this motherboard.
The machine also comes with several input-output options at the back. You are going to find up to twelve USB ports, among other ports. The USB ports include a twenty-Gbps USB type-c, four USB five-Gbps, four USB two-point-zero ports, and three USB ten-Gbps.
The ASUS ROG is, however, highly-priced for a mid-range motherboard, but if you have the money, I hundred percent recommend it.
